Pay no attention to the gossiper behind the curtain

So – It seems that more in Soul Patrol Land receive Google Alerts than I had imagined. The recent Alert(s) that seemed to make many people upset (or at the very least say, “Huh???”) are spreading a rumor that Taylor Hicks’ latest “Shadow Show” (at the Roxy in L.A. tonight) is so not-in-demand that the venue is practically throwing these tickets at people, fairly begging you to come by letting you in for FREEEEEE!!

Well, let me assure that is NOT the case.

This whole thing appears to have been started by those oh-so-honest and forthright “reporters” at TMZ. However, they have their facts just a tad bit screwed.

There are (apparently) some tickets available for tonight for free, however – they are from ticket brokers who overbought and NOT from the venue. These ticket brokers banked on the show being a sell-out and so they bought more than they could absorb. The show is not sold out (though the tickets are in limited numbers), so the brokers are “stuck” with these tickets, hence the “giving them away” for the processing fee of 8 bucks and change.

So, while the show is not a sell-out, it is surely not a wash out either. Relax, enjoy the show, call the cellcert, bask in the glory that is Taylor Hicks tonight:

03/18/09 – The Roxy Theatre – Hollywood, CA – 8pm – $36.50

Visit The Boogie Board where several members are planning to meet up for dinner pre-show and perhaps arrange car shares. If you are not in L.A., duck into the cellcert forum and join the gang via the wonder of telephonics.

As for TMZ, keep in mind that while we may not like what they have to say, at least they are saying it. The minute Taylor Hicks is off their radar (meaning that TMZ no longer believes anybody cares and he will not garner them hits/attention), that is when to worry. The fact they are talking about him at all is A-Okay with me.

Love ya’, Boogiers!!

    Good perspective.
Meanwhile IT’S ALL GREY blog has 180 arguments going about the TMZ vid. portrayal of events at the Roxy.
    Merde.

Well, that vid is certainly interesting and a wee bit enlightening. I hope the young woman slumped on the street had a wake-up call as a result (but I highly doubt it).

I just love that several people seem to think that Taylor has a personal duty to make sure she is taken care of and if he doesn’t go tend to her himself he’s an asshole. Whatever. That’s just asinine.

At any rate, the gossip rags only have power because we give it to them. If they were ignored, they would go away (there is no profit with no audience).
